Chartres este un orăşel de 40000 locuitori aflat în nordul vestul Franţei la o depărtate de 95 km de Paris (vezi localizarea pe hartă - by webm). Administrativ aparţine departamentului Eure-et-Loir, denumirea venind de la două râuri care-l străbat. La Chartre am ajuns cu trenul TER-Centre pe care l-am luat din gara Montparnasse.
